Systems Engineer (m/f/d) | Boblingen, Germany

Position Overview

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the realization and lifecycle management of systems by translating user and business needs into product requirements, executing high level product design, and conducting check & optimize, integration and verification activities. This role manages system decomposition and high‑level design, optimizes system performance, and supports integration, verification, and traceability of derived requirements to hardware/software elements, and parts. The role evaluates design trade‑offs and interfaces, performs product safety and risk assessment, and ensures regulatory‑compliant quality activities (performance, safety, compliance, reliability). The role uses requirements‑management and system modeling/simulation tools for standard tasks, demonstrates technical skills, communication, collaboration, synthesis skills, provides program‑level management support, performs technical complaints investigation, manages complexity, and fosters cross-functional collaboration utilizing communication skills to ensure successful delivery of systems that meet user and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead stakeholder workshops to clarify needs, reconcile conflicts, and create design input artifacts with traceable rationale
  • Lead translation of user and business requirements into clear, measurable and testable product requirements; maintain requirements traceability to design decisions and lower level elements requirements.
  • Implement system architecture diagrams and define hardware/software/external interfaces while deploying modular subsystems that enable reuse and clarify component boundaries
  • Plan and lead system integration testing strategy; verify results against design requirements and interfaces, record deviations, support investigation and resolution and readiness for system verification.
  • Lead design trade‑off analyses for system/subsystems, using modeling, simulation, and data analytics; quantify impacts on cost, schedule, safety and performance, and recommend balanced solutions.
  • Support supplier interactions for components, supplier quality improvements, supplier qualification as needed and escalate supply‑chain issues.
  • Contribute to usability testing, product safety/security assessments, design for reliability, serviceability, manufacturability and testability activities.
  • Apply and ensure compliance with relevant medical standards and regulations; performs product safety and risk assessments; support regulatory-compliant quality activities and regulatory submissions.
  • Own technical risk assessments, develop and implement mitigations, verify effectiveness, and report status to program stakeholders.
  • Coordinate change control across system/subsystems, maintain consistent baselines, communicate configuration impacts, and ensure product configuration traceability.
  • Develop lifecycle plans, assess obsolescence and sustainability risks, propose improvements to extend product value, and incorporate circular‑economy, and sustainability principles.
  • Understand and apply data technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a component in system design and apply AI in Systems Engineering workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement in innovation, product quality and regulatory compliance by applying communication and collaboration skills while coaching peers and fostering technical growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Bachelor's in areas such as System Architecture, System Design, Hardware Engineering or equivalent OR no prior experience required with Master's Degree.
